Most Gauteng dance studios run on the school-term calendar, with graded ballet syllabuses (RAD or Cecchetti) taking three terms to complete a grade and an annual concert in the fourth. If your child is starting out, look for pre-primary or 'movement' classes from age three — these are play-based and non-graded, and studios rarely expect a uniform in the first term. Fees are usually monthly rather than per class, and most studios will let you do a free trial lesson before you commit. Exam-track classes typically need two lessons a week from about Grade 3 upwards, so check the timetable before enrolling if lift-club logistics matter.
