Gauteng public-school admissions run through the provincial online application system, which opens in the winter and works on feeder zones — your home or work address determines your priority at a given school, so proof of residence matters. Private and independent schools run their own timelines, most opening applications two years ahead, and many require an assessment as well as an interview.
