A memorial to the 1976 Soweto student rebellion. The Museum is named after Hector Peterson who was a 13-year old student in 1976 and among the first victims to die from police shootings during the riots.

A memorial to the 1976 Soweto student rebellion. The Museum is named after Hector Peterson who was a 13-year old student in 1976 and among the first victims to die from police shootings during the riots. The Museum is built on 3 levels and takes visitors through a selection of oral testimonies, photographs and video instalations as well as original artifacts. We also offer school tours.
For school programs please contact us to book at least 2 weeks in advance. R15 (Adults) R5 (High School students) for school tours. Primary School age children are free.
