Johannesburg's major history and cultural museum housed in the old fruit and vegetable market which dates back as far as 1913. The permanent displays look at urban life in Johannesburg from the discovery of gold to the era of township jazz in the Sophiatown shebeens. There is a wide selection of interactive exhibits and temporary exhibitions that change on an ongoing basis.
